Back to my marbles!  After the little Traveling Chicken's visit, getting some paintings shipped out and catching up in my office, I'm finally able to get back to my marble series.  This is just a common cat's eye probably from the 1950's.  I'm still looking at some of the really spectacular handmade marbles on Ebay but I just haven't been able to bring myself to pay the price needed to score one.

Next I'll probably try a painting with multiple marbles in some sort of set up.  I have some ideas but we'll see how they pan out once I actually start playing around with them.  Lighting is tricky with these little gems.  Stay tuned!

  1. I could look into marbles forever! They mesmerize me. I had a great collection when I was a child but left them in England when I came to this country.
I enjoyed going back on your blog to see the others. Outstanding little paintings and your use of light is amazing.

    1. Thank you! I too am mesmerized by them and it's been fun to really look carefully at all that's going on in them while painting.

  2. Hello Kathleen:) I still like your marbles! This one I recognize from my childhood. It was the most common. Nice to see it in your serie. You painted it beautiful again! Love the background color. Thanks for bringing up a lot of memories:)

  3. Thanks! I remember these from my childhood too.:) I don't think kids really play with marbles much anymore.
